Mumbai gas leak at pharma company office in Chembur, authorities on site.

Mumbai police, fire brigade, and other agencies have mobilized to verify the source of the gas leak and contain the same as soon as possible.
Mumbai's civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), said on Saturday that it ordered the fire department to review complaints of a bad smell emanating from multiple areas. "We have received a couple of complaints of a suspected gas leak from residents of Chembur, Ghatkopar, Kanjurmarg, Vikhroli, and Powai," said the BMC.

Judging by preliminary reports, BMC headquarters recorded a gas leak at the American vitamin company near Indira Apartment on Station Road, Govandi, at 9:53 p.m. on Saturday. For this purpose, the agencies that have been mobilized to verify the source of the leak are the Mumbai Police, the Gas Mahanagar (MGL), the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the staff of the room, and the air pollution personnel of the BMC.

According to the fire department, residents of the areas in question have been making calls about the bad smell. These areas include Ghatkopar and Chembur. Fire department officials said that when personnel was dispatched to the areas, they could also smell the gas to a greater or lesser extent. The reason for the alleged gas leak has yet to be identified.
In response to complaints on Twitter, Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray said: "We have been tweeted about bad smells in Chembur and Chandivali."

"Disaster control room @mybmc is locating the source and the Mumbai Fire Brigade operates under SoP," added Aaditya Thackeray.

Earlier in the evening, several Mumbaikars complained of a bad smell emanating from the Chembur area. Many turned to social media to wonder if there was a gas leak in the area. Comedian Aditi Mittal also said that people could smell the leak even when the windows and doors were closed.
Saturday's incident comes almost nine months after a similar gas leak occurred in the Chembur area. In September 2019, reports of an unknown odor sparked rumors of a gas leak at the Rashtriya Chemical Fertiliser plant in the Chembur suburb. However, officials remained clueless on the matter without confirmation on the source of origin.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said the odor was reported in the Powai, Chembur, Mankhurd, Govandi, Andheri, Chandivali, and Ghatkopar areas.

The plant had officially denied claims of a gas leak.
